Ronald "Ron" Julius Szabo, joined his beloved father and mother, Julius and Elizabeth, and his late brother, Julius, in the glorious afterlife on March 16, 2020. Born on June 23, 1938, he was the devoted husband of 57 years to Barbara; loving father of Ron Jr. and Vicki; father-in-law of Laurie; and proud grandfather of Alex, Marlee, Michaela, Leia, and Zach.
After a long career in management, during which he drove millions of miles, or so we were told, Ron retired and enjoyed travel with Barb across the US, especially to the Southwest, the Everglades, and northern Michigan. He had an enormous skill set, an enviable natural intelligence, and was an avid reader; he catalogued over a thousand books that he read after retirement. Ron was a master of political debate, in which he was ALWAYS right. He enjoyed foods of the world and would try anything once. Ron had admiring groups of friends and fans in Noblesville and beyond who knew and loved him and smiled when they saw him coming, knowing that good humor would follow. He was a master of prank gifts for his kids and grandkids. His silly hat collection was legendary, and Ron loved secretly cheating at board games with his grandkids. He was a generous Santa, buying gifts all year to deliver at Christmas to needy children. Ron was a deeply faithful Christian. And most of all, he deeply loved his family and they deeply love him always.
“Jesus saith unto her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”’ (John 11:25).
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Ronald's care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes.
