Judy Angvik Zier , of Indianapolis, Indiana, died peacefully in her home on July 27, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Judy was born to Art and Margaret Angvik on August 4th, 1948 and grew up with four siblings in St. Paul, MN. After Judy graduated from Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, she attended the University of Minnesota, where she earned her Bachelors in Education, and subsequently the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, where she received her Masters in Education. Judy was a teacher for 37 years in Germany, the Philippines, Minnesota, North Carolina and Indiana. She was a Teacher of the Year numerous times over. She was a finalist to be the first teacher in space on the Challenger. Over almost 4 decades, she touched countless lives as a teacher and helped many students realize their potential and achieve their goals.

Judy loved to travel, dance and bring smiles to the faces of those whose paths she crossed. Her kindness and love radiated constantly. She created community wherever she lived by bringing people together. She was the epitome of what people look for in friendship and pure joy personified.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, with whom she just celebrated 48 years of marriage, her two children, Sean Zier and Molly Layton, and their spouses Lara Zier and Rob Layton, five grandchildren, four siblings, cousins, and countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Services will be held at Geist Christian Church, 8550 Mud Creek Road, in Indianapolis on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with a celebration of life to take place at a later date.
