Ava Doty , 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 23, 2021 after a brief stay at Riverview Health in Noblesville, Indiana.

Ava was born in Carrollton, Mississippi on May 9, 1934. Ava was the daughter of Jennings Bryan and Helen (Hanks) Riddle. She had a sister, Francis, and a brother, Frank, whom all preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, David Dennis Doty; her son, David D. Doty, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dawn E. Doty; her three grandchildren, David D. Doty, III (Trey), Shelby E. Doty, and Payton N. Doty.

Ava moved to Shaw, Mississippi at an early age. She grew up on a cotton farm in a small Delta Town. She graduated from Shaw High School in 1953. Ava was a Football Homecoming Queen at her high school. Ava was known for her beauty inside and out. Upon graduation she married her high school sweetheart, David.

Ava then went on to attend college at Memphis State University studying in English. Ava held many prestigious jobs including a very exciting career at United Artist, working at Kemmon Wilson (the co-founder of Holiday Inns), and working as a Vice President for a marketing firm for Apple Computer. She also had a successful career in real estate in both Illinois and California. After moving to North Carolina in 1994 Ava was active in the Christian Women's Club and Bible Study Fellowship. Ava and David have lived in various states over their lifetime together, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arizona, California, Illinois, and lastly North Carolina. Ava and her husband David were married for 68 years.

For twenty years Ava was a teacher for the Ester Class at Pine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. Ava loved the Lord and her Pine Valley Church family. She was a loyal worker at Pine Valley Baptist Church. Ava had many friends at Pine Valley Baptist. She was a devoted Christian.

Because of health reasons Ava and her husband moved to Noblesville, Indiana in December of 2020 to live with her son and his family.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Pine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina on November 20, 2021.
