Vilma "Jay" Murphy

Vilma "Jay" E. Murphy, 95, of Fishers, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at her home. She was born on December 23, 1927 to Charles and Emma (Rawlings) Pugh in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Vilma graduated from Lawrence Central High School. She married Edmond Murphy on August 20, 1949. Vilma was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Tim (Anitra) Murphy, Laurie (Bert) Murphy, Patricia Howard, Barbara (Brian) Murphy, Mary (Bob) Louzon, Greg (Amy) Murphy, Kevin (Kathy) Murphy, Therese (Steve) Sweitzer, Dennis (Lynn) Murphy, and Johnny Murphy; 22 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Vilma was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond H. Murphy in 1990; son, Terrance Murphy; daughter, Maureen Gross; and son-in-law Garry Howard.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
