Thomas B. Larkin, 70, of South Bend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on September 29, 1955 to John E. Larkin Jr. and Patricia (Clawson) Larkin in South Bend, Indiana.
He is survived by his daughters, Cristin Williams and Emily Larkin; son, Brian Larkin; granddaughter, Brynnlee Larkin; siblings, Fran (Ron) Young, Katey (Alex) Wojcicki, Michael (Sandy) Larkin, Patty (Lee) Sheley, Margaret Larkin, Robert Larkin, Rebecca (Tim) Huff, and Ann Marie Parks; and his brother-in-law, Philip Wiseman. Across multiple generations of nieces and nephews, he shared guidance, jokes, and laughter that left a lasting mark on each of them.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, John E. Larkin III and Joseph Larkin; and his sister, Sharon Wiseman.
In his earlier years, Tom worked for Cable Vision. He changed careers and landed with Hoffman Brothers Auto Parts in South Bend, where he dedicated over 40 years of service. Known for his reliability and work ethic, he built lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike.
Tom was a man of many passions. He was an avid bowler - far better than he ever let on - and pretty good at the pool table too. Weekends were often reserved for golf, a sport he loved and played as often as he could, even stopping at the 19th hole for a Michelob or two after. He also found joy in watching sports, texting throughout the games with his son, whether it be the Bears, Cubs, Indiana Fever, or Notre Dame football.
His quick wit, sharp sense of humor, trademark sarcasm, and one-liners were fondly remembered by all who were lucky to be on the receiving end, even in unexpected moments.
Tom was also deeply generous, always willing to lend a hand to family or friends in need. Whether it was offering advice, helping with a project, or simply being there, his kindness and dependability were a steady presence in the lives of those he cared about.
Above all, Tom's greatest joy in life was his family. His love for them was unwavering and knew no bounds. He never missed a chance to show how proud he was. Recently, he embraced the role of grandfather and became affectionately known as "Grandpa Bernie" to his beautiful granddaughter, whom he lovingly nicknamed Winston. She brought a sparkle to his eyes and a renewed sense of wonder to his life. He delighted in every milestone from the moment she came home to her first words and cherished every minute spent with her.
Tom will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to family, and the humor and heart he brought to every room. His legacy lives on in the laughter and kindness he inspired and the memories he leaves behind.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Chicory Cafe in Mishawaka on Sunday, November 2nd, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. All who knew and loved Tom are welcome to attend and share in remembering his remarkable life.
