Thomas Jay Hollingsworth, 77, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on October 23, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born January 1, 1949, in Noblesville, Indiana, to John B. and Ruth (Meara) Hollingsworth, Tom quickly had his family wrapped around his little finger. Mischievous and funny from the start, he grew up surrounded by a large extended family and next-door neighbors who became family. He lived in several Indiana communities throughout his life and had made his home in Fishers for the past three decades.

Tom graduated from Noblesville High School in 1967 and attended Indiana State University. His career reflected his entrepreneurial spirit, taking him from owning a clothing store in Greentown to auto sales at a dealerships in Kokomo and Anderson and owning and operating a longtime lawn service business in Noblesville.

His wit was second to none. Without missing a beat, he could deliver a one-liner that left the entire room laughing - and he couldn’t resist cracking up right alongside them. His mischievous streak stayed with him throughout his life, earning him a reputation as quite the practical jokester at the dealerships.

Tom and Caroline shared a wonderful sense of humor, which came in handy when they worked together spreading endless yards of mulch! The couple shared 24 years of love, laughter, and companionship.

Tom deeply loved his son, Kaleb, and adored spending time with his granddaughter, Lyla, who called him “Poppy,” just as his father had been called before him.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline; son, Kaleb Hollingsworth; granddaughter, Lyla Hollingsworth; sister, Marilyn Hollingsworth Musselman (Steve); and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, John; his mother and biggest fan, Ruth; as well as his stepmother, Lynn Hollingsworth and stepfather, Ben Berg.

The family will host a private celebration of Tom’s life in the coming weeks.
