Thomas A. Endicott, 83, of Carmel, Indiana, a devoted father, grandfather, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He was surrounded by family, friends, and his beloved dog, Camille.

Born October 1, 1942, in Portage, Wisconsin, Tom was the eldest son of Albert and Lucy Endicott. He grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, and graduated from Taft High School in 1960. He held a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton.

Tom’s distinguished career spanned decades of leadership in manufacturing and industry, beginning with General Motors, followed by Union Carbide and Dayton Walther Corp. He went on to serve as president of the Gunite Division of Kelsey-Hayes Co. in Rockford, Illinois; president of Dayton Walther Corp.; and president of Duffy Tool & Stamping in Muncie, Indiana. In addition to his corporate career, Tom found great joy in teaching and served as a business instructor at Butler University, a role he often described as his favorite and one that reflected his love of mentoring and connecting with others.

He was a man who lived his life with intention, joy, and deep love for his family. He was always present, whether cheering on his children in their activities, offering steady support, or creating opportunities to explore the world together. Traveling with his family brought him immense happiness, and he delighted in exploring new places with his children, reveling in cultures and experiences, instilling a sense of curiosity and wanderlust his children will carry throughout their lives. With camera in hand, he captured the moments that mattered most. Those photos now stand as a lasting reminder of a life lived fully and a family he loved deeply.

In his later years, Tom showed extraordinary strength and compassion as the full-time caregiver for his beloved wife, Melinda, until her passing in December of 2023. His care for her was a reflection of his unwavering commitment and love. During this time he also discovered a love for cooking and took pride in “perfecting” recipes and making them his own. He enjoyed golfing, following the stock market, watching cable news, and had a special fondness for long-haired chihuahuas, especially his beloved companions Chico and Camille.

Over the past year, he found special joy in spending time with his youngest granddaughter, Lucy. He cherished their time together, especially the moments he could sneak her a dessert, and delighted in watching her grow and learn new words.

Tom lived by a simple motto: “Every day is a good day.” He will be remembered for his optimism, his generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Thomas V. (Jenny) Endicott of Nashville, Indiana, and Sara (Luke) Kroh of Indianapolis, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Emily Endicott of Salt Lake City, Utah, Thomas (Sally) Endicott of Denver, Colorado, and Lucy Jane Kroh of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda Endicott; his son, Adam Endicott; and his parents, Albert and Lucy Endicott.

A private scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.

In honor of Tom’s spirit, his family encourages all who knew him to remember that, as he often said, “Every day is a good day,” and to live each day with the same gratitude, joy, and love he shared so freely.
