Theresa Anne Mickler, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 1, 2025, at 7:05 PM at Baptist Hospital Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. Born on July 20, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Theresa was proud of her 30 years of service at the Army Finance Center, Ft. Benjamin Harrison.
A devout Catholic, Theresa attended Christ the King and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parochial schools, Chatard High School, and Indiana University. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church until moving to Sellersburg to be closer to her son, having previously lived in Greenfield, WI; Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire and College Park, MD.
A nature lover, Theresa enjoyed the many beautiful Indiana State Parks throughout her life and took full advantage when Fort Harrison State Park opened near her home, finding peace and joy there. From a young age her interests included art, literature, creative writing, and music, ranging from jazz and blues to folk and classical. Theresa also appreciated some of the “finer” things in life, including fruit cake, soda, and black jelly beans. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching any sport on TV, especially horse racing and the Indy 500.
Theresa was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Mickler, and her parents, Dr. John R. Kenney and Jo Anne Kenney-Salb. She is survived by her twin sons, Chris Mickler-Lemelle (Sam) of Austin, TX and Patrick Mickler (Daniel) of Louisville, KY; her sister, Kathleen McCrillis (Steven); her brothers, Brendan Kenney and Kevin Kenney; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and cousins.
Theresa will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion to her faith, and her appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Randall and Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 8, at 9:30 AM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 Shadeland Ave, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis after the Mass.
