Theodore Victor Landberg of Fishers, Indiana, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2025 at the age of 92. Ted was born on January 15, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John Victor and Veronica Estelle (Huestis) Landberg.
After high school graduation, Ted proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean war and was assigned to the USS Grand Canyon for two years. Afterwards, he was stationed in Washington D.C. where he would meet the love of his life, Jeanette, who was also serving in the Navy. They started dating, were both transferred to California, and once they fulfilled their enlistment contracts, moved back to the east coast and wed on January 26, 1957 in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
Ted and Jean started their lives together living in various cities on the east coast. Ted went to college and graduated from The University of Hartford with a degree in engineering. In 1966, a job offer with Eli Lilly would bring them and their two small children (John and Beth) to the midwest where they would establish their roots and raise their family in Carmel, Indiana.
Throughout the years, Ted developed lifelong friendships with neighbors as well as his Lilly colleagues. He was extremely creative and took great pride in making thoughtful gifts for the special people in his life; either through his woodworking skills or making videos of trips taken or of a family member’s milestone birthday. Other hobbies he enjoyed included listening to classical music, fishing in Canada with his Lilly friends, golfing with the neighborhood guys, spending time with his family, and upon retirement after working for Lilly for 30 years; traveling the world with Jean.
Ted will be remembered as a man of great strength, integrity, loyalty, honesty, intelligence, thoughtfulness and quick wit. He was always steadfast in his opinion and actions and fiercely loyal and committed to his wife, family and friends. When Jean became ill, Ted remained steady and displayed his heroic character taking care of her until she passed away on November 5, 2020.
Ted is survived by his children, John(Mary Pat) Landberg and Beth(Wes) Bagnell; grandchildren, Colin (Gina), Kyle, and Carson Landberg; great granddaughter, Quinn Jeanette Landberg; sister, Judy Campbell; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Malaguti; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A family celebration of Ted’s extraordinary life will be held at a later date.
