Tami Richele Wells

Tami Richele Wells, 62, of Westfield, was called to heaven to be reunited with Jesus and her Daddy on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in her home. She was born on October 22, 1960 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Maudine and Bill Clark.

Tami’s family moved to Carmel when she was 9 years old. Her family was very active in church, where she made several life-long friends and participated in the Missionettes. As a teen Tami and her sister, Becky, enjoyed listening to music, driving around meeting people, playing pool and going to arcades. The girls were on their way to see a friend when they got lost in Westfield. They pulled in a neighborhood to get directions. Tami didn’t know it at the time, but they ended up getting directions from what would become her future husband. Tami was 15 when she met Tony, and they began dating a few weeks after meeting. Tami and Tony dated 6 years before getting married May 16, 1981. Tami and Tony were soul mates. on March 11, 1984, they welcomed their first baby Brandi; and on August 31, 1987, they welcomed their son Chris. While raising her family, Tami spent her time being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and cheering on Chris and Brandi in cheerleading, color guard, football and basketball.

Tami worked as a successful medical office manager and insurance specialist for over 30 years. Tami was also caregiver to her parents and helped raise her nieces and nephews. Tami was fun, loving, sweet, funny, welcoming to all, and had a big heart. She was often described as ‘the sweetest person I’ve ever met’.  Her family meant the world to her and she loved Jesus. Tami enjoyed hosting parties and family get togethers, as well as family trips especially to the Smokey Mountains.

One of the greatest joys of Tami’s life was becoming a Mamaw. She always said ‘grandchildren are God’s gift for not killing your own’. Tami loved spending time with her grandkids, but was often FaceTiming them when she couldn’t be with them. Layla (13), Ryker (10), Abel (5), Anthony (3), and Willow (3) were given the sweetest blessing of calling her Mamaw!

Tami is survived by her husband of 41 years, Tony Wells; mother, Maudine (Belcher) Clark; daughter, Brandi (Scot) Watkins; son, Chris (Lindsey) Wells; grandchildren, Layla Watkins, Ryker Watkins, Abel Watkins, Anthony Wells, and Dilly (Willow) Watkins; sister, Becky Haag; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Clark; and brother-in-law, James Haag.
