A much-loved mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Shirley Ann Trent, 77, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2026 with her family present. She was born on December 22, 1948 in Logansport, Indiana. A longtime resident of Westfield, Indiana, Shirley graduated from Westfield High School in 1967 and received her associate’s degree from Daytona Beach Community College.
Shirley worked as a secretary and typist for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Federal Aviation Administration, and more. While she held several professional roles during her life, the role she cherished most was being a homemaker and caring for her family. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she was active in the Relief Society and her favorite calling was serving as primary president. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and traveling when she could.
Shirley was known for her warmth, quiet strength, and devotion to God and family. She is survived by her children Greg Trent, Lisa Cox, Michael Trent, and Jennifer Hestand; her grandchildren Meghan Trent, Brittany Trent, Xavier Trent, Jared Trent, Alyssa Trent, Gregory Trent, Ashley Trent, Brooke Deemer, Kaelie Deemer, Brian Ragland, Shawn Brouse, Matthew Brouse, Samantha Burwell, and Alexa Hestand; her siblings Dale Oyler and Allen Oyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Roberta Oyler.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 12 from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Dale Woodward Funeral Home Daytona Beach with a memorial service at 6 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1125 Sixth St, Daytona Beach, FL.
Another memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, Indiana with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Final resting place will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Flora, Indiana.
