Robert Sixto Sanchez

Robert "Bob" Sixto Sanchez, 81, of Fishers, formerly of Portage, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at his home.  He was born on August 22, 1941 to Sixto and Frances (Swiontek) Sanchez in Gary, Indiana.

Bob worked for 34 years for Bethlehem Steel in Gary, retiring as a foreman.  He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage, and became a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church after relocating to Fishers.  He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.  Bob spent 30 years coaching multiple youth sports (Soccer, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Kickball) and was the athletic director at Nativity of our Savior Grade School in Portage, IN.   In 1980, he started the soccer program and served as head coach until 1989 at Andrean High School in Merrillville, IN.  He was also inducted into the Andrean Hall of Fame.  Bob enjoyed running, playing baseball, softball, basketball, and bowled in his earlier years.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Sanchez; sons, James (Mary Ann) Sanchez, John Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Michael (Kelli) Sanchez, and Peter (Julie) Sanchez; brother, John (Tanisha) Sanchez; 13 grandchildren, Joseph, Kyle (Stephanie), Emily, Benjamin, Mark, Elizabeth, Christopher, Carolyn, Mia, Parker, Allison (Evan), Amy & Robert; and 3 great-grandchildren, Miya, Apollo & Rory.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughters-in-law, Christine Sanchez and Jennifer Sanchez; and his brother, Thomas Sanchez.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville.  An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road in Fishers.  Rev. Sean M. Aaron will officiate.
