Robert Louis Metelko, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Noblesville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving children. He was born on September 1, 1945, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Louis and Alta (Watson) Metelko.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a degree in Finance and began a lifelong devotion to the Fighting Irish. Following graduation, he was conscripted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era and proudly served his country at the Emmitt J. Bean DFAS Center in Indianapolis—a city that would later become his home.
After his military service, Bob built a successful career in the banking industry, which ultimately led to a long and distinguished tenure with the Indiana Pacers, where he served as Chief Financial Officer for the majority of his professional life.
In his later years, Bob enjoyed retirement in Sarasota, Florida, where he lived with his spouse, Belinda. Belinda remains in Florida, focusing on her own health and personal interests.
An avid sports fan, Bob followed Notre Dame, Chicago White Sox, and Indiana Pacers with unwavering enthusiasm. He loved to travel, with one of his most memorable adventures being a guys-only trip down the Amazon River. Bob was also a devoted concertgoer with an eclectic musical taste that spanned from The Kingston Trio to Jimmy Buffett to Pitbull.
Among his most treasured possessions was a Willie Nelson paperweight crafted by his oldest daughter during her grade school years. “Willie” proudly occupied a place in Bob’s office throughout much of his career, a small but meaningful reminder of family that brought him great joy.
A devoted father and a truly good man, Bob is survived by his children, Kirstin Gearhart, Aaron Metelko, and Megan Mack; and his grandchildren, Riley and Grant Gearhart; Rider and Ryan Metelko; and Mackenzie, Brooklyn, and D.J. Mack.
Randall & Roberts Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation services.
