Robert “Bob” Griffin joined our heavenly father on June 16, 2025 at the age of 87. Bob was born in Evansville, Indiana and grew up there with two loving parents, William Hill and Dorothy Olive (Fruit) Griffin. His older brother, William, died as a toddler.
Bob married Linda Elaine Griffin (Gutwein) on August 21, 1960. They raised three sons, Bob (Darcy), Mark (Ann) and Jon (Gigi) and have 9 grandchildren, Cole (Ashley), Nash, Nate, Claire, Joan, Elaine, Charlotte, Ali, and Jake, in which they take great pride.
As a young man, Bob was an excellent student and attended Evansville University and graduated from Butler University. Bob began his graduate studies at IU School of Medicine and transferred to the IU School of Dentistry, after recovering from a severe illness. Bob served in the US Army, where he earned the rank of Captain. He left the service in 1967 and took a position practicing general dentistry at the AP&S Clinic in Terre Haute, Indiana. After a few years at the clinic, he established his private practice and continued as a highly respected dentist until he retired in 2004. Bob and Linda lived in Terre Haute for 53 years, before moving to Fishers to be closer to family. Bob was very active and a member of the Terre Haute Rotary Club, IU Alumni Association, Indiana Dental Association, lifetime member and President of the St. Louis Dental Research Group, member and President of the Union Hospital Medical/Dental Staff, Chairman of the Indiana Impaired Dental Committee, American Academy of Laser Dentistry, Chicago Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Bob enjoyed tennis and was known for his spin serve and wicked slice on his backhand. Bob’s other hobbies included fishing and hunting, but his greatest passion was boating, where he spent most of his summer weekends with family and friends. Bob was a long-time member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He served as an usher, with his sons, and volunteered on various committees where he was credited for his organizational and leadership abilities. Bob spent much of his life as a hardworking disciplinarian who taught his children a strong work ethic and a commitment to achievement. He provided well for his family, and they are eternally grateful. In his later years, Bob enjoyed his role as patriarch and grandfather. He will be greatly missed, but we look forward to being with him again in heaven.
