Richard Allen DeWitt (Rick), born in Tipton, Indiana on September 8, 1960, he peacefully left this world to go fishing in Heaven on September 22, 2025. He passed with loved ones by his side in Indianapolis, Indiana after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was the beloved son of James DeWitt Sr. and Ellen Mae Stoops, and stepson to Douglas Stoops. Richard had 3 children, Michael Crooks, Devin Crooks, and Danielle Dewitt, and 1 grandchild, Ambrielle Crooks. He was a devoted loving husband and partner to Dianna DeWitt for the last 18 years, and when they married, he gained 2 more children, Amber Ogle (Ryan Goodwin) and Terry (Monika) Ogle. The family has grown during their marriage and now includes 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He shared a special bond with his siblings: Debbie Anderson, James (Vickie) DeWitt Jr., Randy (Glenda) DeWitt, Sheila (Carl) Abbott, David (Chuck) Stoops, Doug (Melissa) Stoops, Tammy (Joe) Watson, and Angel (Rodney) Harris. He had numerous nieces and nephews, each claiming to be his favorite due to the love he shared with each and every one of them.
Rick dedicated nearly forty-five years working for Industrial Dielectrics in Noblesville, Indiana. He retired to his happy place in the woods in Mitchell, Indiana, just 3 short years go. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and was usually found in one of his favorite places: behind a grill, smoker or fish fryer, cooking up some delicious food to feed whatever crowd had gathered on the porch. His life was marked by his love for his family and friends, his dedication to those around him, and the loving sarcasm that he shared freely. He will be remembered with love and missed dearly by all who knew him.
When he arrived at that heavenly, peaceful fishing lake, Rick was greeted by his loved ones that preceded him: his son Michael Crooks, his mother Ellen Stoops, his father James Dewitt Sr, his baby sister Sonya Pearson, his brother-in-law Donnie Anderson, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and his favorite fishing buddies Chris & Donnie Lynch. He is leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.
The family invites you to celebrate Richard’s life and share your memories during a visitation from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with services at 7:00 pm, on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville.
