Reeta Jeanne Gast took her last breath here on earth at Magnolia Springs in Carmel, IN on May 24, 2022. The next moment she was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and also by her beloved husband Elvis who passed away in 2009.
She was born in Chebanse, IL, on February 28, 1928 to Clyde and Opal Parker. They preceded her in death, as did her siblings Margie, Russell and Betty.
Jeanne was affectionately known as mom, grandma, and “GG.” She was an excellent cook and consummate homemaker. And she also loved her farm and farming. For years she and her husband were active members of St Peter’s United Church of Christ in Frankfort, IL and she was a Bible Study Fellowship teacher. Upon her husband’s retirement they spent many years traveling and visiting family and friends. They moved to Noblesville, IN in 2005 to be closer to family. And family was the heart and center of her life. They were active members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville, where she served as a counter and pantry volunteer.
She is survived by her children Rev. Douglas (Terri) Gast of Noblesville, Richard (Suzanne) Gast of Tucson, AZ, Nancee (Paul) Graves of Millburn, NJ, and Jonathan (Jennifer) Gast of Moorpark, CA. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Her family gives special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Magnolia Springs in Carmel where she resided for 7 months and also to the compassionate skilled care she received from Suburban Hospice.
A celebration of life service will take place in the fall at Bethel Lutheran Church.
