Omer Jacob "Jake" Waterman, 82, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on April 19, 1943, to Ralph and Lelah (Crickmore) Waterman in Noblesville, Indiana.
Jake was a 1961 graduate of Noblesville High School. He spent his childhood as the 10th child of 11 children on his family farm on the east side of Noblesville. Jake had many careers in his lifetime beginning right out of high school working for a man in Hartford City who built milk coolers for dairy farmers all over the state of Indiana and taught Jake to fly. From there he worked at Firestone, Public Service, Delco Remy and Arbuckle’s Railroad Place. For the next 33 years, Jake owned and operated Compton & Waterman Heating & Air Conditioning until he sold his business. He then became a bus driver for 10 years for Noblesville Schools and helped his nephew, Jerry Lee, farm. Jake was a 50-year member of the Noblesville Masonic Lodge #57, where he served as Past Master. He was also a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite and Shriners.
Jake’s family always came first and his roles as Husband, Dad and Papaw were the most important. Jake was also the “favorite uncle” to everyone. He had many favorite nieces and nephews, and he loved them all. He never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Sandy Waterman; children, Michelle Stephenson, Jessie Waterman, Tim Adams, and Joey Adams (Brett Cantrell); sisters, Janet Wilson and Jane Christman; and 9 grandchildren, Rachelle Cummins, Luke Stephenson, Levi Stephenson, Max Barnes, Audrey Barnes, Tori Adams, Nick Adams, Ethan Cantrell, and Graham Cantrell.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his grandson, Isaac Beeson; and his siblings, Joy, June, Jean, Jerry, Jack, Joe, Julia Ann and John.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with Masonic services to follow, on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville.
