Melvin Dwayne Jones

Melvin Dwayne Jones, 68, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026 while vacationing in Illinois. He was born on September 14, 1958 to Melvin and Betty (Dorris) Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Melvin proudly served his country as Sergeant First Class in the United States Army and worked for many years as a truck driving instructor. He enjoyed traveling, military tanks, and bourbon collection, amassing 141 different bottles. Melvin was a foodie and enjoyed cooking, playing board games, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his mother, Betty E. Jones; second wife, Sharon Jones; children, Robert (Amy) Jones, Melissa (Justin) Treadway, and Brandon (Cozette) Jones; 4 grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Matthew) Borders, Connor Treadway, Jonathan Jones, and Caiden Treadway; and his sisters, Nancy (Randy) Dawson and Sandra (Dave) Imel.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Melvin H. Jones; and his first wife, Kelly J. Jones.

A private family burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. A celebration of Melvin's life will be held at a later date. Please contact the family directly for more details.
