Listen to Obituary

Melissa Michaelis, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2025, at Majestic Care of Carmel. She was born on February 16, 1970, in Chula Vista, California. She was 55 years old.

Melissa was full of love, and charitable beyond measure; she never had an abundance from which to give but always gave as much as she could. She enjoyed crocheting, and made many sweaters, hats, baby blankets, and other goods for Pregnancy Choices Indy. She had compassion for the homeless and assembled “homeless bags” which included hats and gloves she had crocheted, food, water, and hygiene products. She kept the “homeless bags” in her vehicle, ready to be freely given whenever she passed by someone living on the street.

Melissa loved the holidays, including birthdays. She would often tell people that she celebrated the entire month of February; it was her “birth month” and any gathering of family or friends which occurred in February was also said to be “for my birth month!” Melissa loved animals and had many dogs throughout her life, including rescued puppies which she bottle fed.

Melissa loved spending time with her family and friends, even when that only meant “being in the same room together while everyone does their own thing.” She would often say, “your visit made my day!” at the conclusion of a visit. Melissa was a “den mother” and offered support and love to the friends of her son, niece, and nephew during their teenage years. Melissa did everything in her power to make sure that her only son had a good childhood. Later in life, she enjoyed watching football games at her son’s house. Even when our team lost, she enjoyed being together.

Most of all, words cannot adequately describe how much Melissa loved being a grandma. She was fondly called “Memaw” and “Grandma Lassa” by her grandchildren. She always had candy ready to give to her grandchildren and experienced pure joy when giving them “just because” presents. She looked forward to meeting her pre-born grandchild, Matthew. She loved after-school visits with Michael and Madeline. She especially treasured sleepovers with her eldest grandchild, Kaylee.

Melissa is survived by her parents, Matthew and Linda Robinson; son, Michael (Alysha) Michaelis; grandchildren, Kaylee, Michael, Madeline, and Matthew; sister, Jennifer (Nick) Ream; nieces and nephews, Caitlin (Taylor) Brooks, Nicholas Ream, Julie Ream, and Matthew Ream; grandnephews, Theodore and Oliver Brooks; cousins, Caty (Reggie) Brown and Mike (Linda) McMurry; aunt, Sharon McMurry; closest friend, Robb Shepard; dog, Crumpet; and many other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her cousin whom she was very close to, T. Andrew McMurry; grandparents, Samuel and Janette Robinson, Bill and Betty McMurry; uncles, Richard and Steven McMurry; and her dog of many years, Little Sister.

Private family services will be held.
