Max Hoffer

Max Hoffer

Max Hoffer , 98, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Green House Senior Living in Carmel.  He was born on February 8, 1923 to Idyl and Faye (Leiter) Hoffer in Claypool, Indiana.

Max proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, spending 2 years in the US and 1 year in the South Pacific and Japan, earning 3 Bronze Stars.  He married Wilma Troxel on July 3, 1942.  Max worked for 34 years for Kimble Glass Co. in Warsaw, retiring in 1980 as a production manager.  Wilma and Max lived at Palestine, IN for 38 years before moving to Lake Placid, FL in 1988. They moved to Noblesville in 2005 to be near family.  Max was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 49 of Warsaw and a member of Refuge Christian Church of Noblesville.  He enjoyed reading, hunting, gardening, and yard work.  An avid fisherman, his biggest catches were a 13 pound bass and a 9 pound 10 ounce walleye.

Max is survived by his daughters, Jan (Stan) Sutton and Kris (Kim) Akers; grandchildren, Angela Sutton, Greg (Heather) Sutton, and Kevin Akers; and his great-grandchildren, Makenzie Sutton, Makayla Sutton, twins Emma & Aiden Sutton, Caleb Akers, Bradley Akers, Laila Grace Akers and Beckett Akers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Hoffer; sister, Jean Kolar; brother, Rex Hoffer; and step-father, Joe Stickler.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with services at 6:00 pm, on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville.  Rev. Stanley R. Sutton will officiate.  Burial with military rites will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw at a later date.
