Mark Dame

Mark Dame, EdD, MHA, CPHRM, FACHE, 60, formally of Lubbock, Texas, and now Westfield, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Holly, and his sole child, Abigail, 20. Also surviving are his mother, Sharon Brown; step-father, Jimmy Brown; his aunts, Joyce Weltich and Janet Krull; two half brothers and various step-siblings. His father is deceased. Born in Muncie, Indiana, he spent his formative years in Monticello and graduated from Twin Lakes High School in 1980. He completed his bachelor's degree in Journalism and English in 1984 at Indiana University and his Master's degree from IUPUI in 1993. He completed his doctoral studies at Texas Tech University in Instructional Technology.

He was a member of various churches throughout the years and accepted the Lord in 1974 at the Monticello United Methodist Church and was baptized at East 91st Street Church, Indianapolis, in 1993. He began his music ministry at age 12 and continued until his death. Most recently he was deacon at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington, Indiana and had been active with St. Luke's Methodist Church in Lubbock, Texas. He had written dozens of contemporary Christian and love songs. He is currently a member of Thrive Christian Church, Westfield, Indiana. It was by God's grace that he was able to surprise his mother with an 80th birthday celebration on August 28, 2021.

Mark had over 30 years of leadership experience in healthcare administration and business and served as a TTUHSC Assistant Professor for over nine years and as an executive with TTU Physicians and the School of Health Professionals Speech and Hearing Clinic. He earned his MHA from Indiana University and completed his doctorate at Texas Tech in Instructional Technology. He had been frequently published, had served on various ACHE committees, had been a recipient of multiple ACHE awards, and had served on the ACHE publications' editorial board, ASPEN's editorial board, and most recently served on the editorial board for the award winning publication, the ASHRM Journal. He served on the Forum editorial board. He served on several  public and private boards in the past. He is still nationally recognized for risk management trends in telehealth. He served on several publications and focused on serving on TTU/TTUHSC committees and task forces. He was President of the Faculty Senate. He most recently was promoted by the university to an Associate Professor. The promotion was capped by the university president with a pewter plate.

In 2017 he was an invited inductee to Phi Kappa Phi. For ACHE, he served on the Regents Advisory Committee. He continues as a certified healthcare risk manager while serving as faculty in the healthcare administration program at TTUHSC. He also served on the Global Health Consortium and many academic performance improvement projects. He assisted other faculty with their instructional design and served as a research expert for the TTUHSC Clinical Research Institute.

Although he had successful careers, he cherished his family the most. He was married to Holly for 29 years and his daughter, Abigail, is 20 years old and attends Butler University. The Lord and his family supported him and gave him strength on a daily basis to get through life and to get through the valley of illness. Mark will be remembered by many of his 1980 Twin Lakes High School, Monticello, classmates.

The family requests donations be made to the Joe and Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center or Abigail's college fund at Butler University Advancement, 4600 Sunset Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46208 on behalf of Abigail Dame, ID#400259935.
