Marilyn Harper

Marilyn McClaskey Harper , 91, of Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville.  She was born to Ebner and Marihelen (Paddack) McClaskey on November 1, 1929 near Darlington, Indiana.

Marilyn was raised on a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Darlington. She had happy memories of life on the farm playing with her younger sister. Their family was complete after the birth of her brother.  Marilyn graduated from Darlington High School in 1947 and later graduated from The Approved University of Beauty Culture of Indianapolis.

After her marriage in 1949 to Glen Harper, her high school sweetheart, she was employed at a beauty salon in Crawfordsville. The couple's life journey took them to Princeton, New Ross, Noblesville, Hagerstown, and Monticello (all in Indiana) where her husband coached high school basketball and was a guidance counselor. After her children were in school, Marilyn worked as a teacher's assistant helping with special needs children. After retirement in 1988, Marilyn and her husband returned to Noblesville to live.

Mrs. Harper was a lifelong member of The Christian Church, Foods and Fashion Homemaker Club in Noblesville and a fun-loving card club. In retirement, she volunteered at the hospital assisting with the care of babies in need.

Family was very important to Marilyn. She loved hosting dinners and gatherings where laughter was always found around her table. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 71 1/2 years, Glen Harper; sons, Alan (Becky) Harper of Flippin, AR, and Neal (Nancy) Harper of Carrollton, TX; daughter, Susan (Ed) Mayhall of The Woodlands, TX, and Ann (Eric) Gerlach of West Lafayette, IN; sister, Joan (Fred) Dunbar of Spotsylvania, VA; and brother, David (Cheryl) McClaskey of New Ross, IN.  She had nine loving grandchildren, Jaysi (Ryan) Madigan, Abbey (Jason) Lamb, George (Sarah) Mayhall, Kimberly Mayhall, Sarah Meeks, Matt (Katy) Harper, Beth Harper, Tyler Gerlach, and Cody Gerlach; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
