Margaret (Deb) A. Dermody, 82, of Fishers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home. She was born on January 13, 1944, in West Point, Nebraska, to Herman and Elizabeth (Kaup) Deppe.
Margaret was a passionate educator, who taught math and chemistry for many years at St. Albert’s High School in Iowa and Carmel High School in Indiana. She also assisted clients at H&R Block during tax season. What she enjoyed most of all was conducting hands-on science experiments with her grandchildren-an activity that brought her immense joy and showed her genuine love for nurturing young minds.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Margaret was a member of St. Louis de Montfort & St. Lawrence Catholic Churches. She cherished the fellowship of the St. Lawrence Bridge Club, where her quick mind and warm spirit shone. In her free time she delighted in jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and tending her garden.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas Dermody; children, Kristine (Brian) Dermody-Nolan, Ann (Christopher Anderson) Dermody, and Mark (Elisabeth) Dermody; grandchildren, Julian Kanagy, Quin Kanagy, Jacob Nolan, Grace Nolan, Connor Dermody, Caleb Dermody, and Noah Dermody; and siblings, Mildred (Ed) Jankowski, Walter (Judy) Deppe, Dorothy (Don) Lawse, and Mary Deppe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jeffrey Dermody; and siblings, Ann, Ellie, Richard, and John.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care team for their dedicated service and support.
Visitation will be on Friday April 10, 2026 at 9:30 am at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road in Fishers. Eulogy will be at 10:20 am. Mass will be 10:30 am. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
