Margaret Joy Baird

Margaret Joy Baird, 93, passed away on April 26, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1932 to Clay and Ivabelle (Gibbons) Dill in Noblesville, Indiana.

Joy was a lifelong resident of Noblesville and graduated from Noblesville High School in 1950. She married Charlie Baird on November 16, 1951, and they enjoyed 70 years together before he passed in 2022.

In the 1950’s, Joy worked at the local dime store, and then Prudential Insurance in downtown Indianapolis. After her kids started school, she assisted Walter Sharpe prepare tax returns, worked in the catalog department at J.C. Penney, and then worked for Kraft McMahon Foods. Joy enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, and watching sports, but mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, Kirk (Laura) Baird; a daughter, Karen Baird; and two granddaughters, Kristin Laird and Lauren Walker (Robert Karr). Joy is also survived by six great-grandchildren, McKenna, Sammy, Lacie, Henry, Graysen and Harper; and one great-great-grandson, Kash. In addition, she is survived by a sister, Mary Bowman; and many nieces and nephews.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Baird; her son, Gary Baird; and siblings, John Dill, Charles Dill, Louann Craig, and Sally Schindel.

Randall and Roberts Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. There will not be a visitation or service. A brief graveside service for the family will be held at a later date.
