Maizie Monette Glover, 95, a lifelong resident of Noblesville, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1929, to Broda and Aleatha (Winburn) White. Maizie married Wayne Herman Glover, a childhood friend and the love of her life on June 20, 1952, and they were blessed to have raised five children and celebrate 60 years of marriage before his death in 2012.
A 1949 graduate of Noblesville High School, Maizie set off for Chicago shortly after receiving her diploma to live with relatives and explore new opportunities. She secured a position at Supreme Liberty Life Insurance Company, where she worked for six months before homesickness led her back to Indiana. Upon returning, she was employed by the State Board of Health in the Communicable Disease Division performing clerical work and remained there until giving birth to her first child in 1953.
After starting a family, Maizie began what would become a 30-year career beginning as a Clerk Typist for the United States Army Finance and Accounting Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison and retiring in 1989 as Secretary to the Director of Finance Network Quality. She earned numerous commendations and consistent recognition for her exceptional job performance, including the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. With an outspoken demeanor and high standards, she was known for her unwavering commitment to doing things the “right” way in every task she undertook.
Maizie was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Noblesville, and at the time of her passing was the oldest known descendant of historic Roberts Settlement. She served faithfully on the Stewardess Board at Bethel and as a Trustee at Roberts Settlement for many years.
Throughout her life, Maizie enjoyed traveling, genealogy, gardening, crafts, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and cheering for the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts. She loved listening to Elvis and Nat King Cole and looked forward to watching Wheel-of-Fortune every night--especially with any family member she could hold captive. More than anything else, she loved her family and family history--always reminding everyone, “Don’t ever forget where you came from!”
Maizie is survived by her daughters, Lezli (Johnny) Davis, Marcia (Charles) Granger, and Lizabeth (Michael) Wilson; and son, Bryan Glover; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dana Hughes; brother-in-law, Myron (Sandra) Glover; first cousin, Nora Fae White, son-in-law, Kenneth Hopper; her dear friends, Emma McKinney and James Reed; and a host of extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne; daughter, Pamela Lynne Hopper; brothers, Doyle Maurice White, Charles "Murphy" White, Bobby Carl White, Norman Keith White, Kent Myron White, and Roland Lee White; and her sister, Marcia Sylvia White.
Private services will be held at a later date.
