In Loving Memory of Lynn Edward Boone
February 18, 1957 - May 25, 2026
With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we announce the passing of Lynn Edward Boone, who entered eternal rest on May 25, 2026, at the age of 69. Throughout his three year long illness, Lynn displayed remarkable strength, grace, and unwavering faith. A devoted servant of God, Lynn lived his life with steadfast devotion to the Lord, quiet strength, and a heart open to all.
Lynn is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 38 years, Eunice Randle Boone; their son, Steven Michael Boone; his twin sister, Rev. Leslie Boone; brother-in-law, Jim H. Randle Jr. (Valerie) as well as a loving aunt, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father James Boone Sr.; mother Susie Boone; and brother James Boone, Jr.
Lynn was born on February 18, 1957 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to James and Susie Boone. From the moment he was born, he stood out not because he was the youngest twin by only five minutes, but because he was very polite, shy and quiet and always willing to put others first. Surrounded by music, creativity, and knowledge, he learned quickly. By the time he was a toddler, it was clear he was unusually sharp. He became the human Google search and encyclopedia before Google was invented. His love for the TV show Jeopardy only fueled his love of learning. He knew more than most of the contestants as he continued to correctly answer Jeopardy questions even up to his last days.
After graduating from high school, Lynn attended both Penn State University and then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. He built a successful career by working as a counselor at Mayview State Hospital, a psychiatric hospital, caring for behaviorally challenged children. During his free time he also worked part-time as the front desk manager for Holiday Inn. After marriage, he got the “insurance bug” and built his remaining career around Claims Training and Adjusting. Upon retirement he remained close friends with his insurance colleagues from Eagle Adjusting Services and Ryze Claim Solutions.
What he did in his professional life though, is not as significant as the impact he left on others. A lifelong believer in Christ, he didn't just speak of his faith-- he lived it, every day, in service, kindness, and love to others. He had the rare gift of making those around him feel seen, valued, and deeply loved-reflecting the love of Christ in all he did. He was instrumental in bringing many families to Faith Presbyterian church by warmly welcoming visitors and always remembering their names and what they shared. He never forgot anyone’s name. His weekly Sunday mornings at church consisted of giving hugs to all who needed one. Those hugs will forever be missed and remembered. Also, if you were friends with him you were friends for life and would often receive a personal call on your birthday.
Lynn absolutely loved the outdoors where he was most relaxed and comfortable. Almost everything outdoors was his passion with camping being number one, lawn-care, skiing, swimming, golfing, white water rafting, tennis, motorcycle riding, bicycling on the Appalachian trails, softball, volleyball, and fishing.
Two other hobbies that Lynn was definitely passionate about were photography and playing his trumpet. He was always the man behind the camera photographing weddings, graduations, class reunions and year books. Although he possessed and played several instruments, the trumpet was his first love. Playing with the Robin Run Big Band and the Jazz Gents gave him the drive and motivation to remain on this earth even longer after being given a 3-months terminal diagnosis. But thanks to God he lived for three years surpassing that date.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Lynn’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Our hearts ache at his absence, but we rejoice in the truth he held so dear: that death is not the end, but a glorious beginning. We take comfort in knowing that Lynn has been welcomed home by his Heavenly Father, hearing the words he longed for all his life-"Well done, good and faithful servant."
