Lawrence "Larry" Martin

Lawrence "Larry" Martin, 85, of Fishers, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023.  He was born on January 1, 1938 to Michael and Christine (Cichochi) Martin in Chicago, Illinois.  Larry was the New Year's first baby born in the South Chicago Hospital that year and won the layette gift set!

Larry was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California.  At age 17, he joined the Army and retired from the service after 20 years.  During his enlistments, he lived overseas in Japan, France, Germany, and Italy.  Larry also served in Vietnam during the war years.  He loved his travels and learning about different foods and cultures.  After his Army career was over, Larry accepted a job at Ft. Benjamin Harrison DFAS in Indianapolis and was eventually promoted to Chief of the Contract Management Division.  But of all his positions and titles, the titles of "Grandpa" and "Uncle" have meant the most to him.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Martin; a son, David (wife JoLeda) of Denver, CO; a step-son, Rob Robbins of Battle Creek, MI; a niece, Laura Martin of Seattle, WA; and a nephew, RJ Martin of Crown Point, IN.  Larry has nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two great-nieces, and two great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his former wife, Betty; a brother, Robert; a son, Christopher; and a step-daughter, Guyla.

Final arrangements are being handled by Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary.  Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 (www.stjude.org).
