On August 13, 2025, our beloved Katie Ann Sargent Kixmiller peacefully entered the arms of God, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren.
Born in Burns City, Indiana on October 3, 1939, Katie came into the world with red hair and sparkling blue eyes. She was raised on a farm in Elnora, Indiana where she developed a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and community. A proud graduate of Elnora High School, Katie went on to earn her degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She began her career as a grade schoolteacher, nurturing young minds before dedicating her time to raising her three children.
When her family moved to Noblesville, Katie became a cherished member of the Noblesville First Presbyterian Church. She was affectionately known as “The Candy Lady,” and was the heart and soul behind the Baier Candies store on the town square. Her homemade fudge and beautifully hand-decorated Easter eggs became treasured treats for many, a sweet reflection of her confectionary talents.
In time, Katie began a new endeavor. She built a highly successful career in real estate. She was passionate about finding the right home for buyers and building lasting relationships. She had many repeat clients who bought or sold their homes with her guidance. Katie had a distinguished real estate career, collaborating with several firms. Her journey culminated at FC Tucker and Company, when she chose to retire.
Katie and John Kixmiller fell in love and were married in 2002. They celebrated their honeymoon in Paris, where John arranged a birthday lunch for Katie in the Eiffel Tower. From that moment on, Paris held a special place in her heart. John created beautiful paintings to adorn their home of the Eiffel Tower and cherished memories of Paris. John and Katie enjoyed many wonderful excursions throughout the US and the world.
Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Hazel (Vickers) Sargent. She is survived by her loving husband, John; her children and stepchildren: Scott Baier, Stacey Edwards (Tom), Stephanie Lock (Gary), and step children Matt Kixmiller (Liz), and Jennifer Ann (Kixmiller) Sheek (Chris); her grandchildren: Mallory Carter (Matt), Molly Oldham (fiancé Beau), Matthew Oldham, Ryan Lock (Megan), Jason Lock, Austin Lock, Mitchell Baier, Caleb Kixmiller, Jacob Kixmiller, Emilea Kixmiller; and her great-granddaughter, Haisley Mae Lock.
A celebration of Katie’s life will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, Indiana. Visitation is Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow immediately afterward. A private graveside service will take place at Bethel Church Cemetery in Freelandville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240, https://www.alz.org/indiana
