Listen to Obituary

Joseph Richard Cesare, age 83, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Majestic Care of Sheridan. He was born on July 14, 1942, in Elmira, New York, and was the oldest of seven siblings.

Joe married the love of his life, Anne Marie Cesare (Goodyear), on September 12, 1964, and together they made their home in New Jersey and Indiana. They built a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion, and were blessed with three children: JoAnne, Michael, and Jeffrey.

Joe’s paternal father, Benedict A. Cesare, served as an electrician aboard the USS Snook, a U.S. Navy submarine. While operating in the South China Sea/Luzon Strait, the USS Snook was declared lost with all 88 hands on May 16, 1945. Joe’s mother, Marguerite, later married Robert M. Patterson, who lovingly raised Joe throughout his life.

Joe was raised in Elmira and Horseheads, New York, alongside his siblings. He attended Horseheads High School, where he played basketball and tennis. Following high school, Joe attended Alfred University in Alfred, New York. He was a proud member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and completed his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Engineering.

After college, Joe began his professional career in Camden, New Jersey, with Owens Corning Fiberglass. He started in sales, selling insulation, and later worked within the shingles division. Joe dedicated his entire professional career to Owens Corning, retiring after 35 years of service. After a brief retirement, he returned to work part-time with Reese Wholesale.

Joe was a devoted member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and was actively involved in the Optimist Club and Lions Club. He was respected for his strong work ethic, quiet leadership, and commitment to serving others. Joe was also an avid sports enthusiast and a loyal supporter of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Hoosiers.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Anne Marie Cesare; daughter, JoAnne Jackson; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Cesare; son, Jeffrey (Tracy) Cesare; five cherished grandchildren: Camden, Sydney, Alec, Jake, and Ryan; and his siblings, Denise (Wallace) McCloud, Scott (Victoria) Patterson, Barbara Root, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Patterson, and Lee (Barry) Linchuck.
