John Steele Weikel Jr.

John Steele Weikel, Jr., 82, of Fishers, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 7, 2023.  He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to the late John Steele Weikel, Sr. and Ruth Hoadley Weikel, where he lived until 1961 when he enlisted in the US Airforce and was stationed in Germany. He received a degree from Purdue, Ft. Wayne in Electrical Engineering in 1971.  Anyone who knew John knew that he was very career driven.  During his working years he held jobs with Magnavox, RCA, Seastrom, A & S Tool Company, Douglass Company and Runyon Equipment Sales as a Sales Manager and Vice President of Operations. He found that he enjoyed advising and helping grow businesses and establishing connections with his customers.

John married Kay, the love of his life in 1994.  They were married for 29 blessed years.  They loved traveling.  He also bonded deeply with his motorcycle group, Boanergesas (which means the Sons of Thunder) as they traveled across the US.  In his life he visited 53 countries and all 50 states.   Another passion was cars.  Although he couldn’t drive it, he owned his first car at age 14.  He loved to play cards, bocce ball, hanging out by the pool, and reading. His warm personality made him the perfect greeter at his church.  John loved his family fiercely.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Extremely witty, he made everything fun and always made his friends and family laugh.

John is survived by his loving wife, Kay; children, Christine (Darrin) Long, Cobi Ingram, and Daniel (Tricia) Hignight; grandchildren, Ali (Jimmy) Henry, Megan Hignight, Hannah Long, Jackson Long, Hailey & Lauren Ingram; his sister, Beverly Weimer; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Weimer.

Visitation begins at 10 am with memorial service following at 11 am. Friday, April 14th at Heartland Church, 14900 E 126th Street, Fishers, IN 46037.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Church or to Pets for Vets, PO Box 10860, Wilmington, NC 28404.
