John Henry Jurgensen, III

John Henry Jurgensen, III, 87, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 11, 2026. He was born on August 10, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to John Henry Jr. & Dorothy (Spiers) Jurgensen.

John earned his undergrad and MBA from Stanford University, where he was the captain of the swim team. He spent his professional career as a corporate executive for several companies. John also served as Pastor of Administration at Grace Church in Noblesville, which he stated was the highlight of his career.

An accomplished yet humble man, John had a genuine heart for helping others. Throughout his life, he faithfully served as an elder, deacon, & Bible teacher. Most recently, he was a member of Community Bible Fellowship Church in Westfield.

John’s faith in Jesus Christ became the defining foundation of his life. Growing up, John considered himself self-sufficient and independent due to the death of his mother when he was 7 yrs old and raised in boarding schools. He often felt alone; church and God were not a part of his life. In the later years at Stanford, John began searching for meaning and purpose. He explored a number of beliefs, including Zen Buddhism, and even traveled to Japan to study Zen Buddhism and get his black belt in Judo.

It was during that trip to Japan on a ship that he met Margot who was on a missions trip and they married a year later. As their family grew and they had several corporate moves, their realtor shared with them about his relationship with Jesus Christ and invited them to church. Margot eagerly accepted the invitation, while John reluctantly went along supporting his family.

John initially resisted, questioning and debating nearly everything he heard. But God patiently pursued him. Eventually, accompanied by a strong sense that the Lord was calling him to Himself, John surrendered his life to Jesus Christ.

From that point forward, John became on fire for the Lord and remained deeply committed to Christ throughout the rest of his life. His faith was not merely something he believed - it became something he lived. He devoted himself to studying God’s Word, teaching others, serving the church, and helping people know the hope he had found in Jesus.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ron Jurgensen.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margot Wilson Jurgensen; daughter, Jennifer (Brian) Peters; son, Jeffrey (Linda) Jurgensen; grandchildren, Brielle (Noah) Wilson, Linnea (Jordan) Kelley, Bryce (Olivia) Peters, Jared (Emma Wolfzorn) Warren, Jazlynn Warren, and Clayton Jurgensen; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Zeke, Mitchell, Emi, Walker, and Miles; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, faithful friend, humble servant, teacher of God’s Word, and a man whose life was ultimately transformed by the grace of Jesus Christ.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Community Bible Fellowship Church, 231 E. 161st Street in Westfield, Indiana. Service will be live streamed, please check back for link.
