John Andrew (Drew) Johnson

John Andrew (Drew) Johnson, 56, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 in Indianapolis.  He was born on February 25, 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky to David M. Johnson Sr. and Lyda Christine (Muth) Johnson.

John graduated from Carmel High School, Carmel, Indiana and held Bachelor and Masters degrees in music from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and a doctorate in music from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. John's academic focus was on the life of George Gershwin and he was a research scholar at the US Library of Congress in Washington, DC. He later became a professor at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York before returning home to Indiana to be close to family.

John is survived by his daughter, Vivian Johnson; his mother, Christine Johnson; and brother, David M. Johnson, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, David Johnson Sr.; and brother, Dan Johnson.

Private family services will be held.  John’s family has entrusted Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes with his care.
