John A. Hellriegel, Sr, 89, of Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on September 29, 1935 to Herman and Louise (Avery) Hellriegel in Alberta, Virginia.

John proudly served in the United States Marines, serving 2 tours in Vietnam and receiving 2 distinguished flying cross medals before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. John was a member of the American Legion and Military Officers Association. After retirement, he worked for Orange County Transportation Authority for 20 years. John was a devoted Catholic and member of Our Lady of Grace Church. He loved golfing in his free time.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Bill); son, John, Jr. (Julie); grandchildren, Kylie, Zach, Shane, and Tessa; and sister, Loretta.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Hellriegel; and his brother, Buddy Hellriegel.

Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street in Noblesville. Inurnment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at 11:30 am on Wednesday August 6, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Noblesville American Legion Post 45, 1094 Conner Street, Noblesville, IN 46060.
