Jewell Davidson "JD" Estes

Jewell Davidson "JD" Estes, 94, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on October 8, 1931, to Merrett and Eunice (Plumlee) Estes in Barren County, Kentucky.

After moving from Kentucky to Indiana, JD began his career as an air hoist operator at American Foundry. In January 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving for two years guarding the M65 atomic cannon, “Atomic Annie,” and performing duties as a supply sergeant. JD later joined McFerran-Kane Company, starting as a floor covering installer before becoming an estimator and eventually serving as president and owner alongside his brother and nephew. He retired in 2002 after more than 48 years with the company. Following retirement, JD and his wife, Ev, enjoyed spending winters at their home in North Ft. Myers, Florida. JD was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.

Highly active in his community, JD served as president of the Carrigan Point and Feather Cove home associations and was a dedicated member of both boards. JD was the "go-to" person for any issue; he took great pride in maintaining the pond and loved sharing fishing advice. Known for never meeting a stranger, JD was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a talented handyman who could fix anything and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed turkey and pheasant hunting, snowmobiling, and boating. Most of all, JD cherished time spent with his family, friends, and "grand doggies"—visits filled with stories, laughs, jokes, tears, and comfort.

JD is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn "Ev" A. Estes; son, Brian (Julie) Estes; daughter, Kathy (Kirk) Robbins; grandson, Kyle (Caity) Robbins; granddaughter, Kaylee (Tommy) Oakes; great-granddaughters, Nora and Ella Oakes; great-grandson, Mason Robbins; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, JD was preceded in death by his brothers: Franklin, Charlie, George, Leslie Sr., and infant brother James Richie Estes.

Service Information

Visitation: Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center (1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, Indiana 46062).

Service: 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Jerry Ingalls.

Entombment: Following the service, friends are invited to meet at the entrance of Washington Park East Cemetery (10612 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229) for entombment with militaryhonors.
