Janet Scherer Weber, 76, of Westfield, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Independence Village of Carmel. She was born on February 6, 1950, to Charles and Gladys (Hiller) Scherer in Noblesville, Indiana.
Janet was a 1968 graduate of Hamilton Heights High School and a 1972 graduate of Indiana University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She later received her master’s degree from IUPUI in 1976.
Janet dedicated 36 years to teaching at Hamilton Heights Schools, where she touched the lives of many students throughout her career. She also served as Science Fair Coordinator for 10 years and National Honor Society Advisor for 10 years. Janet was a member of the Hamilton Heights Classroom Teachers Association and ISTA and was a charter member of Ruffles, the middle school social association. After retiring, she continued her love of education by substitute teaching for Westfield Schools for another 10 years.
Janet was a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She was an avid fan of IU football, IU basketball, and the Indianapolis Colts and loved cheering on her favorite teams. She and Denis also enjoyed traveling together, with memorable trips and cruises to Antarctica, Pompeii, Australia, New Zealand, and many other destinations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gladys Scherer.
Most important to Janet was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and proud grandmother who treasured the time spent with those she loved. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Denis E. Weber; daughters, Megan (James) Gruesser and Lauren (Ankur) Pandya; grandchildren, Aiden Gruesser, Addison Gruesser, Marlow Pandya, and Laine Pandya; sister, Vicki (Arnett) Cooper; and brother, Jeff (Mary) Scherer.
Janet will be remembered for her dedication to education, her love of family, and the many lives she touched throughout her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 20650 Cumberland Road, Noblesville, Indiana, on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. A fellowship dinner will follow the service in the church reception hall.
