Jane Montgomery peacefully passed away April 3, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at her home at the age of 83.

Jane was born on March 6, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Her childhood held an early test of strength when, at five, she suffered a broken femur in a serious accident. She made a full recovery and carried that same resilience with her throughout her life. Later, in Anderson, Indiana, her teenage years were marked by joy and recognition, including being named "Miss Christmas Carol" and "Winter Festival Queen".

She went on to study at Purdue University and later Ball State University, where she embraced both academic life and community, becoming a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority. These years were filled with experiences that shaped her lifelong love of learning and creativity. Along the way, she spent time living in France, where her appreciation for food, culture, and art deepened into a lasting passion.

Jane later made her home in Liberty, Indiana. While raising her sons, Scott and Mark, she began a career as an interior designer, bringing beauty, style, and thoughtful design into the homes of others. She built a reputation for her creativity and attention to detail, and continued her work for Stegman Interiors before eventually opening her own business in 1997 in Richmond, Indiana. Jane, alongside Jim Hogan ran Interior Translation until 2014 before retiring together in Indianapolis. They built long lasting relationships with clients and business partners, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Jane will be remembered for her many passions and the joy she found in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She had a deep love for gardening, cooking, reading, art, music, fine dining, and travel. After retirement, Jane became a devoted football fan, closely following her favorite teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Indianapolis Colts, and was an avid viewer of NFL Network’s "Good Morning Football". She also had a special love for animals and devoted herself to rescuing and adopting many dogs and cats throughout her life.

Above all, Jane’s kindness, strength, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her presence was a steady source of comfort and love, and her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, Ernest and Freda Joy, Jane was also preceded in death by her sister, Jody.

Jane is survived by her loving soulmate, Jim, her sons, Scott (Carrie) and Mark (Karen), brother, JT (Judy), sister, Jaxie, and many nieces and nephews. Jane also left behind four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held in Richmond, Indiana Sunday, April 26 from 2:00-5:00pm at the Richmond Historic Train Depot in Richmond, Indiana.

Please remember Jane by cherishing time with loved ones and sharing kindness with others.
