Jack Meachum 31, of Sheridan, Indiana passed on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Jack’s life was cut tragically short, but his time spent on this Earth was lived to the fullest. His motto in life was “Every day is a great day to have a great day.” He especially loved to recite this to his high school lacrosse team at early morning practices.
Jack gave 110% to every aspect of his life. From his love and dedication to his beautiful wife, Bethany; to coaching his Carmel High School Lacrosse Team; to being a director at True Lacrosse.
Jack grew up in Naperville, Illinois. He attended Naperville North High School. From there Jack attended Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he played lacrosse. After graduation Jack moved to Ashland, Wisconsin to build and coach Northland College’s first lacrosse team. This is where he met the love of his life, Bethany Best.
Together the two moved to Indiana to begin their life together. Jack started coaching as Carmel High School’s varsity lacrosse coach where he served for the last 6 years. This year Jack’s team went all the way to the state finals and won the state championship. He was named “2023 Coach of the Year” for Carmel High School. He also was honored this year as “USA Lacrosse Coach of the Year.” Jack attended graduate school at Indiana University and earned a Master’s Degree in Strategic Leadership and Design. He coached and mentored so many students and they learned through Jack’s example to be not only a great lacrosse player, but to be a person of character on and off the field.
This year, Jack married the love of his life, Bethany Meachum on June 10th. Jack loved being with his family and friends, playing hockey, running, weightlifting, anything active, and spending time up north. He was a dancing enthusiast especially when “Who Let the Dogs Out” was playing. Jack loved nothing more than spending time with his wife Bethany and his dog Moonshine.
He is survived by his wife, Bethany Meachum; parents, John and Lauren Meachum; twin siblings, Kate (Robert Bernstein) Meachum and Dan (Vicki) Meachum; and niece and nephews, Teagan, Asher, Ezra, and Quentin.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
