Listen to Obituary

Georgia Linda “Pete” (Carper) Bronnenberg, 78, was called home on Sunday, May 11, 2026, passing peacefully in her sleep at her home in Noblesville.

Born on November 25, 1947, in Texas City, Texas, Pete was the fourth and youngest daughter of Mary Estella (Nunneley) Carper and Jeff Davis Carper. After four girls, her father insisted on calling her “Pete,” and it became her lifelong nickname.

Pete worked as a telephone operator for “Ma Bell” for many years and later at an assembly plant before retiring. She enjoyed antiquing for treasures, road trips to Texas to visit her sisters, a really great hamburger, old country music, and Gunsmoke. She never learned to swim, but she had the most beautiful cursive handwriting and perfect gift-wrapping skills. Most of all, Pete loved her family and friends.

After moving to southeast Kansas following her father’s death, she graduated from Wayside High School and married Gary Lee Bronnenberg in 1966. They made a home in the country in Tyro, Kansas, for over 30 years before moving to Oklahoma, where Gary preceded her in death in 2013. She moved permanently to Noblesville in 2020 and cherished the time it allowed her to spend watching her only grandson grow.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Robert) Cossell, and grandson, Charlie Cossell, of Noblesville, Indiana; her sister, Jackie Gearhardt of Texas City, Texas; her sister-in-law, Janice Orcutt of Grove, Oklahoma; and many treasured nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Connie Clark and Mary Lee Edens, and her beloved yellow Labrador, Sandy.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Guardian Angels Hospice of Kokomo for their compassionate care during Pete’s final days.

At her request, she was cremated at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center in Noblesville, Indiana. A Celebration of Life will be held in Kansas at a later date.
