Gene Wright Myers

Gene Wright Myers, 94, of Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Maple Park Village in Westfield. He was born on May 4, 1931 to Jay Leo and Margaret (Wright) Myers in South Gate, California.

Shortly after the 1933 earthquake in Long Beach, Gene's parents moved to Grass Valley, California, where he spent the next 18 years. He served in the United States Navy on Treasure Island where he met the love of his life, his sweetheart, Irma Jean Wilson. They married on August 8, 1953 and were married for 68 years until her passing on July 21, 2022.

During the early years of their marriage, Gene finished his master’s degree from Berkley and then Long Beach State. He then became a teacher in the Paramount Unified School District, where he worked until retirement. He loved teaching, and his students appreciated his sense of humor and his style of teaching. Many returned to him after graduation to thank him for helping them through their high school years and for making learning fun and interesting.

Gene loved adventure, teaching, and driving fast. He was a backpacker, camper, fisherman, hunter, race boat driver, water skier, motorcycle rider, traveler, miner, and caregiver.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Bob) Eup; son, Mark (Nancy) Myers; sister, Melba (Roger) Sachs; brother, John (Anne) Myers; grandchildren, Lisa (Tom) Bannwart, Melanie (Brad) Wing, Cory (Kim) Davis, Steven Myers, and Jacob Myers; and his great-grandchildren, Sara, Evan, Savanna, Sam, Sophia, Scarlett, Skyler, Noah, Elijah, and Daniel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Jean Myers.

Private family services will be held. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Riverside Cemetery, 5th Street and Maple Avenue in Noblesville.
