Eric Michael Sturges

Eric Michael Sturges, 51, of Fishers, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 24, 1973, in Anderson, Indiana.

Eric was an 8th grade science teacher and, most recently, a biomedical science teacher at Hamilton Southeastern Schools. He had a passion for learning and sharing knowledge, and he inspired countless students with his curiosity and enthusiasm.

Eric was a strong man of God whose faith guided his actions, relationships, and the way he lived his life. His deep spiritual foundation was evident in his kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment to serving others.

Outside the classroom, Eric found joy in hiking, biking, and swimming. He loved kayaking with his family and spending time outdoors, always eager to explore the beauty of God’s creation. A talented photographer, he captured the world through his unique lens, often pausing to notice the details others might miss.

Eric had an infectious smile and a gift for making those around him laugh with his silly antics and playful sense of humor. He was kind, compassionate, and deeply generous with his time-whether volunteering with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts or lending a hand to a neighbor in need. His love for his family, community, and faith was evident in all he did, and his warmth and light will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Sturges, his parents, John and Diana Sturges; children, Elijah and Caroline Sturges; father and mother-in-law, Dick and Susan Tysen; brother Brian (Amy) Sturges; brother-in-law, Dirk (Jessica) Tysen; and nieces and nephews, Nathan Sturges, Carson Sturges, Taylor Sturges, Lyla Tysen and Neil Tysen.

The Sturges family has entrusted Randall & Roberts Funeral Home with Eric’s care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
