Earl Harry Haas

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and son, Earl Harry Haas, 84, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.

Born on March 8, 1942, in Hamilton, Ohio, Earl was the son of Earl and Elsie (King) Haas. Earl was a man whose actions spoke louder than words. He and his family were devoted members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. He took a sincere interest in the lives and passions of his children and grandchildren and found genuine joy in whatever mattered most to them.

In 1963, Earl married the love of his life, Nancy Brinson, beginning a partnership that would span more than 62 wonderful years. Together they built a home centered on love, hard work, and family. They treasured watching their family grow and enjoyed quiet evenings together watching favorite television shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race. Nancy will always remember Earl’s remarkable work ethic, extraordinary patience, warm smile, and the tenderness and kindness he brought to their life together.

Earl is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Brinson) Haas; his sons, Michael Joseph (Lisa), Mark Earl (Barbara), and Matthew Craig (Heather); his grandchildren, Michael (Emma), Madison Barnett (Andy), Bailey, Peyton, Adare, Joya, and Nixon; and his first great-grandson, Patrick Joseph. He is also survived by his siblings, Gary (Sheila), Vicki Simpson, and Ronnie (Cindy); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pat, Ken, and Gail Brinson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elsie (King) Haas.

To his family, he was known simply as “Dad” and “Babo.” They are forever grateful for the countless times he showed up with camera in hand, ready to witness and preserve life’s most precious moments.

Professionally, Earl enjoyed a distinguished engineering career with Dickey & Sons and Overton Industries. His hard work and innovative thinking led to patented tubing machine designs that supported the automotive, HVAC, aerospace, and defense industries. Yet those who knew him best understood that his greatest talent wasn’t inventing things—it was fixing them.

Whether rebuilding a porch, solving an electrical problem, designing a coffered ceiling, building a deck, fabricating custom metal stair balusters, or tackling a plumbing challenge, there seemed to be nothing he couldn’t—or wouldn’t—do. Even more importantly, he patiently invited his sons and grandchildren to work alongside him, teaching them not only how to solve problems but also how to approach life with patience, perseverance, and confidence.

Earl also devoted countless hours to researching his family’s ancestry, preserving its history and memories for future generations. An avid cyclist, he faithfully rode 25 miles nearly every day. His passion for cycling led to five unforgettable bicycle trips across Europe with his sons.

Perhaps one of Earl’s greatest passions was restoring and showing his beloved Volkswagen buses. Those buses became the backdrop for countless cherished family memories—from camping trips to donut and ice cream runs with his grandchildren. Nothing brought them greater joy than riding in “Babo’s buses,” creating memories they will treasure forever.

Whether attending a cross-country meet, dance recital, cheer competition, baseball or basketball game, Tang Soo Do practice or tournament, black belt testing, or snowboarding competition, Earl was always there with a smile. He embraced every challenge—building a house from the ground up, repairing sprinkler systems, pruning, planting, edging, and even weeding—with enthusiasm and determination. His unconditional love, steadfast presence, and willingness to show up became the greatest gifts he gave his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, Indiana 46062.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Earl’s remarkable life, share memories, and honor the love, kindness, and joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

A private graveside service for the immediate family will follow the Celebration of Life

Though he will be deeply missed, Earl’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the family he loved beyond measure.
