Dr. Ryan Christian Wallace, 49, of Noblesville, IN, passed away at home on October 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and children, following a courageous, and hard-fought battle with lymphoma.

Born on February 16, 1977 in Kokomo, IN, to Sally Marner Smith and Dennis Wallace, Ryan discovered an early passion for science and medicine. He forged an untraditional path to his medical career, paving his own way and inspiring countless others by proving that a dream of practicing medicine is always within reach. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 1998 as a medical services journeyman while earning his Associate’s Degree. He went on to attend Butler University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, before graduating with his medical degree from Indiana University in 2004. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Ball Memorial in 2007.

An award-winning, board-certified family medicine physician, Dr. Wallace dedicated over 23 years of service to the residents of Delaware County, working in the Emergency Department at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Serving as the Assistant Medical Director, he was widely respected by colleagues and staff alike for his exceptional leadership, calm bedside manner, sharp diagnostic insight, and profound love for emergency medicine.

Medicine was far more than a profession to Dr. Wallace—it was his true calling. Beyond his duties in the Emergency Department, he was deeply devoted to teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians. Through Ball Memorial Hospital's Family Medicine Residency program, he poured his time into staffing, taking call, delivering lectures, and guiding residents.

When he stepped away from the hospital, Ryan enjoyed making memories with his family. He loved camping at state parks in their big blue camper, walking his beloved dogs—Joey, Pickles, and Pepper, who will miss him dearly—and vacationing at their favorite beach house in North Carolina. An avid traveler, he enjoyed hiking national parks, visiting Disney World with his girls, listening to audiobooks, participating in his book club, shopping, collecting, and exploring new restaurants.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Apryll; his children, Max (21), Henry (18), Gracelyn (14), and Ellie (11); his mother, Sally Smith; his father, Dennis Wallace; and his half-brothers, Todd Santee and Brandon Wallace. He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and son. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
