Dorothy Maxine Beene, 93, former resident of Freeport, TX, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Riverwalk Commons in Noblesville. She was born on October 10, 1922 to James 'Jim' and Birchie Jane (Willis) Bowman in Lone Oak, Texas.
Maxine was a homemaker. She was a past member of First Christian Church in Freeport, TX and also a member of the Lioness Club, also in Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (Richard) Snyder; two grandchildren, Bree (Jason) Rummel and Bradley Beene (Courtney) Snyder; four great-grandchildren, Lawson & Sloane Rummel and Scarlett & Pearl Snyder; and a niece & nephew, Nandale Vice and Gary Bowman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, Forrest B. Beene, whom she married on April 24, 1943; and two brothers, Clinton Bowman and Jimmy Dale 'Boots' Bowman.
Services will be held at a later date in Texas, with Freeport-Lakewood Funeral Home in Freeport, TX handling arrangements there. Entombment will be at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson, TX.
Memorial contributions may be made to Texas Lions Camp for Children, 4100 San Antonio Hwy, Kerrville, TX 78028; or, a charity of your choice.
