Donna "Joan" Maris, 93, of Fishers, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. She was born on February 9, 1933 to Artus Seawright and Ethel Marie (Kuhns) Troxel in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Joan's first love was raising her five daughters and later began her 25 year career with J.C. Penney. She was a member of Northview Christian Church. Joan liked playing the organ, fishing, and going shopping. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and doing diamond artwork. Joan loved her dog, JoJo, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Skip) Lowe, Nancy Maris, Vickie (Jim) Carter, Karen Maris, and LeeAnn (Alan) Bird; grandchildren, Jessica Schrader, Kyle (Lauren) Schrader, Jordan Schrader, Tom (Brooke) Harber, Michael Maris, Alex Bird, Haley Bird, Sarah Bird, and Samantha Bird; great-grandchildren, Lane, Grace, and Emery Schrader and AJ Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Lee Maris; brother, Donald Troxel; and sister, Betty Dougherty.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road in Fishers, with Pastor John Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
