Delphia D. Davis, age 86, died peacefully on February 25, 2008, while at her home in Carmel, IN. She was born in Brown County, Indiana, to Oliver and Ethel Wilkerson on November 25, 1921. She graduated from Nashville H.S., in Nashville, IN, in 1939, and graduated from Indiana University, receiving her Masters in Education. She began teaching in a one-room school in Houston, Indiana, and retired from teaching at Central Junior High School, Columbus, IN. She lived with her two daughters in Carmel for the past 21 years. She enjoyed her family, her dog, Reggie, had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid sports fan, especially IU basketball. Mrs. Davis is survived by her son, Grover B. Davis (Angela), her two daughters Nancy D. Broglin (G. Michael) and Shannon D. Davis; grandchildren, Hilary Griffith, Scott Sacks, Zachary Davis and Harrison Davis; great-grandchildren, Abby Markham, Davis and Starke Griffith. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Wilkerson (Elkhart, IN), sister, Norma Owens (Cincinnati, OH). She was preceded in death by husband, Grover B. Davis, Jr.; her brothers, Paul, Ralph and Dale Wilkerson and sisters, Hazel Clark and Mary Keller. Visitation will be from 4 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN 46038. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Indiana University Foundation, Attn: Depositor, Post Office Box 500, Bloomington, IN 47402 Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, IN.
