Deborah Marie Kappel, 47, of Fishers, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at IU Health Fishers. She was born on July 2, 1978 to John and Janet (Ward) Kappel in Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Deborah succumbed from a lifelong battle with Sanfilippo Syndrome. She was a fighter, exceeding all milestone expectations and outliving her life expectancy by decades. Though her life was full of struggles, it was never without joy. She taught her family a lot about faith, resilience, and devotion. Deborah would light up a room with her smile, and communicated with her family through her laughter and grins. She loved hearing her mom sing to her, and held a special place in her heart for her Aunt Lori, who cared and tended to her throughout her life. Above all else, Deborah loved everyone unconditionally and was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by her parents, John & Janet Kappel; brothers, John (Danielle) Kappel, James (Tabitha) Kappel, and Bradley Kappel; sister, Lori Kappel; Aunt, Lori Dixon; nieces, Ava and Stella; nephews, Braden, Landon and Colton; as well as several other aunts, uncles & cousins.
Deborah was preceded in death by her sister, Brianna Kappel.
