David J. Calvert, 73, passed away peacefully in his home with family by his side on Saturday, June 20, 2026. “Dave” was born February 4, 1953, in Elkhart, Indiana, to parents Robert and Shirley Calvert.

He is survived by his wife, Kay (Brighton) Calvert; daughter, Natalie (Calvert) Ridings; son-in-law, Michael Ridings; and grandchildren, Cal and Liv Ridings. Dave is also survived by his beloved brothers and sister, Robert (Peggy) Calvert, Tim (Kathryn) Calvert, Jim (Anne) Calvert, and Sherry (Mark) Thomas.

Dave grew up in Elkhart, Indiana, and graduated from Elkhart Central High School. He went on to attend Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he earned a degree in Business Marketing and was an active member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Following college, Dave built a successful career in the clothing industry before transitioning into insurance sales and employee benefits. Throughout his life, Dave cultivated a wide circle of treasured friendships and was deeply valued by those who knew him, both personally and professionally.

In 1987, Dave married the love of his life, Kay. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, adventure, and faith. In 1991, they welcomed their daughter, Natalie, who brought them immense pride and joy. Later in life, Dave and Kay embraced one of their favorite roles—that of proud grandparents to Cal and Liv. Since 1999, they have been active members of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church in Fishers, Indiana.

Dave had a wide range of hobbies and interests. He loved fishing, boating, biking, kayaking, creating stained glass art, music of all genres, and building the perfect stereo system. Whether enjoying the outdoors, working on a creative project, or gathering with family and friends, Dave approached life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him. Above all else, family was the center of Dave’s world. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His warmth and keen sense of humor touched everyone he met. Dave had a rare and remarkable way of making people feel at ease and valued. Toward the end of his life, Dave retained his unwavering zest for people and the world around him. He was a true warrior who refused to stop loving life.
