Listen to Obituary

Dallas Lee Hester, born September 29, 1936, passed away on August 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Winchester, Indiana, to Orpha and Ruth Hester. He attended Noblesville High School, Class of 1955, and retired from working at Delco Remy. Most importantly Dallas was a farmer and farmed throughout his life, which was his passion.

He met the love of his life, Niomi, and they were married on August 6, 1966. Together they raised four daughters: Tamara (Thomas) Cain, Deborah Engel, Melinda Holdren, and Christina (Mark) Scudder. Dallas and Niomi recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by family at the farm, including their nine grandchildren: Austin Cain, Ainsley Cain, MacKenzie (Michael) Bowerman, Jessica Engel, Logan Holdren, Irene Scudder, Marie Scudder, Lucy Scudder, and Phoebe Scudder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orpha and Ruth Hester; his brothers, Dennis and Lowell Hester; his sister, Illa Jean Gage; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ferb and Teresa Williams; and his son-in-law, Michael Holdren.

Dallas will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and his love for the farm. He loved a good joke, landing a good zinger, and had a gift for making the people around him laugh. Beneath that playful spirit was a steady and generous heart; he loved and supported his family deeply and gave freely to friends, family, and strangers whenever there was a need.

Dallas saw God’s hand in everything around him and his faith was strong. He will be deeply missed. He also gave his time and service to the Knights of Columbus, the Our Lady of Grace community, Hamilton County 4-H, and Future Farmers of America.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 17th from 4pm to 7pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, IN.
