Craig McKay Beard, 71 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was born on January 26, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late William C. Beard and Florence (Jo) Voyce Beard.
He was married to Roseann Beard. Craig graduated from Shortridge High School in 1970, and went on to earn two degrees from Purdue University in Construction Technology and Architectural Technology. While in college, Craig worked full time and eventually started Beard Insulation, his own commercial insulation contracting company. Craig was known by his colleagues for his attention to detail, excellent work ethic, and care for his employees. On job sites, having a good time went hand in hand with doing professional work. He spent his entire professional career in the construction industry and retired in 2018. Craig was known by those around him for his strong faith in Jesus Christ. After being led to Christ by his brother-in-law, Craig lived a life with hope in Christ. Evidence of his faith was visible to those around him in his love for God, love for others, generosity, integrity, and humility. Craig always kept his Bible on his desk, and he frequently meditated on Scripture. Craig and Roseann were members of a local church and were heavily involved and known by others. In later life, Craig was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and endured more than a year of treatment until he ultimately died from pneumonia. Craig’s friends and family are blessed by the legacy of faithfulness to God and love of others that he leaves behind.
Craig is survived by his wife of 45 years, Roseann Beard; and his children Adam Beard (Kelly), Sam Beard (Megan), and Grace Beard. He is survived by his six grandchildren, Kaylin, Londyn, Jaxyn, Luke, Julia, Kate; and his siblings, Bill Beard (Pam), Pam Caito (Tony), Scott Beard (Wendy), and Lynn Shepard.
He is preceded in death by his father William C. Beard, mother Florence (Jo) Voyce Beard, and his brother, Blake Beard (Chris).
