Listen to Obituary

Carol Haaf (nee Raday) was born on January 17, 1945. She graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. In the 1980s, she pursued additional coursework in computer programming at West Chester University.

She married William Haaf in 1968, and together they raised three children: Deborah, Billy, and Joel. Carol began her career as an analytical chemist. While working for DuPont, the family was transferred to Iowa for five years. During this time, Carol served as president of the YWCA, where she led a merger with the YMCA.

The family later relocated to West Chester, Pennsylvania. Carol rejoined DuPont in Information Services and went on to become the manager of a large technical support group serving Research & Development at the Experimental Station. She retired after 26 years of service.

Carol began playing the accordion at age 10 and later in life learned to play the piano. She was a board member of Tick-Tock Early Learning School and also served on the board for the Barnard House restoration project in Pocopson Township.

Carol and Bill shared a love of the outdoors and traveled extensively, hiking throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. Together, they visited and hiked in 35 U.S. national parks.

She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren: Lauren, Megan, Anjali, and Grayson.
